Joana leads the J&J Innovative Medicine ANZ team, where she drives sustained business growth that accelerates access to transformative innovations, and champions talent development to build a healthier future for patients. Her leadership is focused on not only advancing business objectives but also fostering a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture.
Most recently, Joana was Managing Director, Latin America North (LAN) with J&J Innovative Medicine. Under her leadership, the team evolved significantly and achieved historic growth and competitiveness. She led a culture transformation to win for patients while promoting engagement, inclusion, well-being and talent development. She also actively shaped the external environment, driving the value of innovation and was selected as co-chair of the local industry association.
Joana began her career with Johnson & Johnson in 2011 and has had a variety of roles during her tenure, including Commercial Director in Venezuela, Central America & Caribbean; and Immunology Leader in Latin America. Joana also led the Latin America Pandemic Response Team, which, in record time, maximized equitable access to the J&J COVID-19 vaccine across the region.
Joana holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Cornell University in the USA, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Strategy and Marketing from Cornell University, USA.
