Cancer survivor and artist Sebastián Rodríguez.

      “My illness motivated me.”

Sebastián Rodríguez (also known as Drouville) is a graphic designer and a painter in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His multiple myeloma diagnosis and relapse fueled his passion for painting as a form of therapy and self-expression.

Dragonfish, Sebastian’s series of 12 paintings, speaks to his experience since first being diagnosed in 2003. The paintings depict fish who are trying to eat different characters, which collectively represent Sebastian, as he continues to stay ahead of multiple myeloma.

Sebastian’s overall mission is to use the disease as an engine to generate new artistic projects, be it painting, design or writing. He is developing a line of customized sneakers with a friend and is also currently writing a book about his experience with cancer, sharing how art helped him cope with the disease. He hopes to help others who may be in similar situations.
