      1. What is a charitable contribution?

      Charitable contributions may be in the form of cash or product donations. A cash charitable contribution is a financial donation that is philanthropic in nature and provided to a nonprofit organization to support community-based programs, projects or events.

      Charitable contributions are not provided for healthcare professional education initiatives. A product donation is provided through specific product-giving programs to nongovernment organizations generally responding to disasters, medical relief efforts and basic healthcare needs in underserved communities.

      2. How do I submit a charitable contributions request?

      All charitable contribution requests within our therapeutic areas must be submitted online. We do not accept unsolicited requests for our local community giving; applications will be accepted on an invitation basis only.

      3. How long do I have to complete my saved applications?

      Applications are saved indefinitely, noting that any request for event support should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Additional submission deadlines are specified for each Therapeutic Area. Local community giving requests should only be submitted in response to an invitation to apply.

      4. How long does it take to complete the process and receive funding?

      The Charitable Contributions Committee meets regularly to review all applications; however, the specific length of time differs for each application. The process time will be greater if an application is submitted with insufficient information.

      5. How far in advance of an event should I submit the application?

      Any request for event support should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Additional submission deadlines are specified for each Therapeutic Area . Local community giving requests should only be submitted in response to an invitation to apply.

      6. Can I expedite funding support for an activity coming up in a couple of weeks?

      Due to the volume of requests received and to be fair to all organizations, requests are reviewed in the order received.

      7. If we are willing to reduce the amount of funding we request, will it increase our likelihood of receiving financial support?

      With limited resources and a competitive review process, the funding we provide is based on several factors. Reducing the amount requested will not increase the likelihood of receiving financial support.

      8. How is the total amount of a charitable contribution determined and distributed?

      Charitable contributions are made through an established application review and approval process. There are numerous factors that determine the amount funded, such as resources available, strategic alignment, high unmet need, health disparities, reach and level of impact, and measurable outcomes.

      9. Our event is an annual event and Janssen has supported us in the past. Will this mean that our request will be funded every year?

      Every charitable contribution request is treated as a unique occurrence. Previous funding is not an indicator of future support.

      10. Can I work with my Janssen sales representative to help me with my charitable contribution requests?

      Company employees are not to be involved with, assist, or act as a communication conduit for a charitable contribution request. All requests for support must be submitted through the online process from the nonprofit organization. Additional questions may be directed to the charitable contributions department.

      11. What’s the best way to be sure that my charitable contribution will be approved?

      While no one can guarantee that any charitable contribution request will be approved for funding, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with our giving guidelines, application requirements, and overall process located on our website.

      12. If approved, will my charitable contribution information be disclosed?

      Yes, please refer to the Transparency page on this website.

      13. What charitable contribution information is being disclosed?

      Janssen provides the name of the charitable contribution requestor; address, city and state where the requesting organization resides; title of the program/project; dollar amount of the contribution; and the type of donation (cash or product).

      14. What geographic areas fall within your local communities?

      California – La Jolla and San Francisco
      New Jersey – Mercer and Somerset Counties
      Pennsylvania – Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties

      15. Can I submit one request for multiple programs?

      Yes, however requests for support of fundraising events should not be commingled with requests for program support.
