HIV/AIDS
In 2012, the Public Health Agency of Canada estimated that there were approximately 71,300 people living with HIV (including AIDS) in Canada in 2011, 25% of whom were unaware of their infection (due to a lack of testing and/or diagnosis).1
The annual number of reported AIDS cases in Canada has decreased steadily since 1993, largely as a result of the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in 1996.1
