Towards a world free of infectious diseases”
Our scientists aspire to discover and develop innovative medicines and vaccines that aim to treat some of the world’s most life-threatening infectious diseases.
We focus our deep expertise on areas of high unmet need, including:
- human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
- respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
- influenza (flu)
- human metapneumovirus (hMPV)
- viral hepatitis (hepatitis B)
- Zika
- Ebola
- polio
- Dengue
- multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB)
Our strategy to fight life-threatening diseases is realized through our development of therapies and vaccines with multiple mechanisms of action. This is fuelled by world class discovery and development teams, strategic external collaborations and leveraging available technologies and knowledge from across the breadth of the Janssen companies.
More than a billion people are affected by infectious diseases every year, making it one of the leading causes of death, globally. As a result of globalization, population growth, increasing travel and climate change, the spread of these diseases is increasing rapidly. Many diseases are notorious for their ability to mutate and become resistant to treatment. It is therefore more crucial than ever that we fight against the rising threat of infectious diseases to improve public health and benefit patients worldwide.
